Integrated Smart Farm Environmental Control Unit

MEVSYS combined battery-less wireless sensors based on solar energy harvesting with a Zigbee low-power mesh network to develop, in-house, an integrated environmental control unit for smart farms that is simple to install and maintain while remaining highly scalable. We have completed operational verification (TRL 4–5) in real cultivation environments, including containerized hydroponic units and indoor smart booths, and have delivered six types of energy-harvesting sensor modules and enclosures to date.

Battery-Less Wireless Sensors Based on Energy Harvesting
We developed a low-power wireless sensor that runs virtually indefinitely without a permanent power connection or battery replacement, by converting light energy into electrical energy with a solar cell and charging it into a supercapacitor. Power consumption is minimized through sleep-mode and periodic wake-up control.
Integrated Multi-Sensor Measurement Module
Integrates a wide range of sensors needed for cultivation environment management — temperature and humidity, CO2, light intensity, pH, EC, soil moisture, and more — into a single module. I2C/ADC interfaces and a self-diagnostic function ensure data reliability even during long-term unattended operation.
Zigbee-Based Low-Power Mesh Sensor Network
Applies Zigbee wireless communication and a mesh network structure to reliably transmit data from multiple sensor nodes. The integrated environmental control unit acts as the coordinator, providing the scalability to freely add sensors without additional wiring.
Integrated Environmental Control Unit & Local Actuator Integration
We developed in-house an integrated environmental control unit and local I/O device that automatically or manually controls actuators — pumps, valves, LED lighting, and more — based on collected sensor data. CPU performance optimization resolved control-screen response latency issues.
PC / Mobile Remote Monitoring & Control
We provide a standardized user interface, designed with ergonomic principles, that lets users monitor the cultivation environment in real time via PC and mobile apps, and remotely perform setpoint changes, auto/manual switching, and trend analysis.
Waterproof Aluminum Enclosure & Modular Structural Design
IPx5-rated waterproof connectors and a six-sided detachable aluminum enclosure ensure stable operation even in outdoor installation environments. A modular structure with connector positions selectable from the top, left, or right allows flexible placement tailored to the installation site.
